Trinity College Fellows' Garden

On September 27th, 2025, our TCPDS family event brought us to the Trinity College Fellows' Garden. We spent a lovely afternoon enjoying the nature, sharing fresh food, and even the weather was kind to us, given we are in autumn! 🌿

As part of our visit, some of us also explored the new Woodland Walk in Burrell's Field, created in 2024 by the Gardens Team using materials sourced mostly from within the grounds. It is a circular path full of small surprises and hidden corners, designed to encourage both curiosity and relaxation.

Among its highlights are the Thinking Swings, a playful temporary installation near the tarmac path to Burrell's Walk, originally built for the May Ball. The children did not want to leave, and a few even were able to spot a fox!.

We also came across the Dragonfly Bridge, complete with a metal dragonfly sculpture and a little basket perfect for a game of Poohsticks when Bin Brook is flowing. There are willow-trunk benches, one decorated by nature itself with the bright orange "chicken of the woods" fungus, and the historic Stone Bridge, which once belonged to a cottage demolished in the 1970s and is now occasionally visited by otters!

For younger visitors (and the young at heart), there is even a carved wooden bear by a local tree surgeon. The walk finishes at an orchard bursting with seasonal fruit: apples, Asian pears, figs, damsons, medlars, greengages, quinces, plumcots, crab apples, pomegranates, and more.

All in all, it was a relaxing and memorable day, with nature, food, and new discoveries making it feel extra special.

Our heartfelt thanks go to the Head Gardener and the whole Trinity team for making this visit such a wonderful experience.
